#1: Don’t Forget Branding

Now that you’re convinced that you should be doing email marketing. The next thing is branding your email.

Without branding, your emails won’t get opened, read, and the recipient won’t take action.

Your email should be reflective of your brand colors, style, and other visual elements like your logo and your picture. The best way to do this is pick a template. If you’re using mail chimp, there a multitude of options in there. Be sure, to test for mobile and desktop before deciding it.

Lastly, adding an email signature is clutch.

#2 Use Emojis in the Subject Line

A well respective email marketing company reported that 55% of businesses used an emoji in their subject line AND saw their open rate increased!

Crazy, right? More than half of businesses saw more emails open because of an emoji.

Easy right? I would totally experiment with this and although you may or may not see results, it’s worth giving it a shot. The safest emoji to start with would probably be the heart eye emoji.

#3. Use Video!

An interesting and effective way to increase your email traffic is to include [Video] in your subject line. Studies show that it can increase your open rate 20-65%!

Definitely experiment with adding that to your subject line. When you do, in the body of the email, I’d include a screenshot of your video.

You can link it to your youtube page or preferably your website. Make sure that when people get to your website, there are clear calls to actions.

#4. Segment Your Lists

Using segmentation in your email list and campaigns is super important. Why? Because not everyone on your list is the same. You wouldn’t talk to your leads the same as you’d talk to existing customers, right?

So how should you segment your list? You can do it by demographic, geographical location, their buying history and type of buyer (milling, slab sales, vs furniture customer), and anything else you find valuable. To start with, I’d aim to send emails 2x a month and one to each demographic. Ideally, you could send 4x a month to 4 different segments. That way it won’t feel overwhelming.

Lucky for you, every email marketing tool makes it easy to segment your list.

#5 Optimize your emails for mobile

If you knew that more than half of all emails were viewed on a phone or tablet, would you pay more attention to how your email was formatted?

This is a simple tip, but before sending your emails, test it to make sure it doesn’t look jumbled, clunky, and isn’t easy to read on a smartphone.

#6 Know What Your End Goal Is

When you’re sending an email to people who know you, you know what you want. You have an email address from a prior customer or a lead and they gave it to you, so you’re assuming that you know what to do, right? Keep them updated on your sales, products, and offers.

When you’re cold emailing, getting off track is easy. What do you do? What do you tell them? Email should have one function when the prospect is cold. That function is to have them take action on one thing. For woodpreneurs its:

  • Redeeming a coupon
  • Getting a free custom quote
  • A complimentary design
  • A design consultation
  • Video a before and after video on your latest project
  • To follow you on social media

Either way, remember when you send out an email you’re asking for 1 thing and 1 thing only. This way, you increase your chance for your prospect to take action.

Lastly, be sure to remember there’s a fine line between spam and being of value. Are you just pitching or are you adding valuable information to your email recipient?

Hope you enjoyed this email series.
