Delivering a $12,000 Table with Black Forest Wood Co

The process of building and finishing a high-quality piece of furniture is challenging enough, but transporting that table to its new home can often be just as tricky. The folks at Black Forest Wood Co. show off their streamlined process that enables them to get their creations to their new home safe and sound.

In this video, they layout where the legs are, get everything lined up, and put their inserts in to make for easy setup at their client’s house. The client they are traveling to is located about thirty minutes north of where they are, but they are excited to provide them with their matching dining table and bench.

Preparation is Key to Success

As they move on, they showcase a piece they have been working on that has been covered in snow and is soaking wet before revealing that it has been sitting in the back of a truck for eight months. They elaborate that it is a test to see how durable the bond is between the resin and the wood and demonstrate that it is still nice and strong despite the prolonged exposure to the elements.

To ensure that every delivery goes smoothly, they bring a few things with them to make the maintenance and assembly even easier.

“For every delivery, we’ve got a few things that we just like to take with us. A few of them are for making sure things stay perfect. And they can maintain it and then some of it’s just so it’s easier to assemble.

You bring that handy trusty drill so that when we put our inserts in, we can do it a lot faster than with just a hand tightening Allen wrench, we actually made a custom one that we ground down. So it’s just a straight bit, we can put it in the back of the drill and we can just use a drill and screw it super easy, way faster.”

Like a Well Oiled Machine

After everything is assembled they then take a spray cleaner to clean everything up before they go and they leave another one with the client so that they can maintain their table as well.

They then do a final coat of wax that leaves the table looking shiny and fixes any potential imperfections that may have come up during transport. The crew notes if the finish is dried it isn’t as much of a worry, but if it’s a fresh coat that will be a consideration.

The Best Part of The Job!

“This is always one of the best parts of the process, finally getting to see them in their final home with the chairs around it. It was pretty sweet. So we’re super pleased, the clients are super pleased. Couldn’t really go smoother than that.

That was basically a perfect delivery. But we just wanted to show you guys what it takes for us [to deliver a custom table] and how careful we have to be to load up the table, take it there, deliver it into their house and make sure everything is perfect.
