How to Get the Word Out about Your Wood Business

Today I’m going to teach you how to get the word out about your woodworking, sawmill, or lumber business. The big question is “ How do I let people know that I exist?” and well of course you tell people, but really in all seriousness, there are two ways that you can go about this.

One way is that you can pay for it. The other way is organic, if you don’t have money for marketing, or have a small budget. Today I’m going to cover both ways so don’t worry.

Organic Marketing

One method of organic marketing is having a personal Facebook page. Once you have a personal Facebook page, it is the easiest way to organically gain a following. At first, you’ll attract local people, and your friends and family. However, if you treat your Facebook personal page, like a business page, you can actually create more sales and get more interest, trust me it works, just do it!

The next thing you need to do is start building an email list. You want to start collecting the emails and contact information of your followers, your customers, and your leads and consolidating that somewhere. Then you can reach out and tell people what you’re working on.

Finally, you need to brand yourself. It can be super basic, simple things like your logo on a hat or the full brand experience of your image, perception, community, and offers. Whatever it is, make sure you have business cards and other offerings that can get your name out there when the opportunity arises.

Create Opportunities

Also try thinking out of the box, like if you’re doing a job and it’s outside, create a lawn sign and put it out there to let people know. I had somebody do this and they were able to get an $11,000 job because somebody saw their lawn sign. It can be other things too, like a sticker for your car, you have to be proud of who you are.

It all comes down to understanding your brand, and knowing your mission, your vision, and your values. Once you do that, you know what ends up happening? Everybody knows that you’re passionate about what you do and you become the go-to woodworking guy. You’re the go-to for lumber, you’re the sawmill person. If you start putting yourself out there even more because you have the brand, and if you’re good at your work and you’re proud of your work, everybody should know about it.

All right. So anyway, that’s a super simple way that you can get the word out about your business.
