The Most Successful Woodworking Business of 2021 by Burnt Edge Woodcraft

Every wood business owner wants to have a successful business, so to help out, check out these 5 tips from Burn Edge Woodcraft to help refine your woodworking business.

Tip #1. There is no Perfect Time

The things are always going to be happening, no one expected Covid-19 to have it to happen in 2020, and no one expected the stock market to crash in 2008. We cannot control the future, so it’s always better to do something the moment it seems possible and not wait for so-called, perfect timing.

Although it is important to ensure your finances are in order, and you have contingency plans, once you have those things in place it is vital to just start. Even if you do something wrong the first time, as long as you learn from your mistakes, it will put you further along than you were when you started.

Tip #2. Start Where You Are With What You Have

Starting where you are and with what you have doesn’t put you in a financial bind. Starting with what you have will help you focus more on the task at hand, start small, and gradually grow into a larger business.

You can find a lot of tools that will make your life easier along the way through Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Not everything needs to be purchased brand new, and you can get a lot of mileage out of secondhand tools.

Tip #3. Starting and Developing Skills

You already have the skills, the knowledge, and the know-how of what to do and how to work with wood. You just need to do is to put your words and plans into action.

Simply start building something. There is a market for everything, as long as you are able to produce it well, there is someone who will buy it. However, you this means classifying those people as your target market and determining how you intend to reach them with your products.

Keep learning, there are infinite resources out there that you can learn from. This includes not only additional woodworking skills, but also tips for better and more efficient work, client relations, and business advice.

Tip #4. Online Resources

There are two sides to online resources.

  1. You can learn so much through YouTube and other online platforms. Just make sure that you absorb correct, accurate, and relevant information.

  2. Selling online. Whether through Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, Craigslist, or even Instagram, you can make an entire sales business without needing a physical storefront.

Tip #5. You are Responsible for Growing your Business

Growing your business is in your hands. You are your own team, you are the marketing, you are the accountant, you are the HR department, you are the debt collector, you are everything for your business.
