Thinking Bigger & Taking Vacations Ft. Ol Loggin Epoxy

Thinking Bigger & Taking Vacations Ft. Ol Loggin Epoxy

Welcome to a brand new episode of The Epoxy Business Podcast. Today your hosts Steve Larosiliere and Jake Latvala sit down to catch up and talk about everything that’s been going on over the very busy summer months. Between work, travel, and everything in between, you won’t want to miss this catch-up episode!

“I just listened to a podcast a month or so before I went on my trip. The guy was talking about why you need to take long vacations. Not everybody could take a month but he said you need time away to detach yourself from your business. So you come back with a fresh mind and fresh perspective. You can’t work all the time because when you’re stressed and you’re working all the time you’re not making good decisions.”

I was talking to a group of the people that I coach, because while I was gone in my coaching program, I had Jake be one of my guest mentors and a couple other people as well. I said, ‘The thing that Jake does really really well is that he built a team around him right so Jake can take a week off on vacation and content is still flowing.’ Tables are still being built, logs are still being milled, lumber is still being dried.”

Ensuring Things Run Smoothly

Taking time off to go on a vacation when you are a business owner can be stressful. But as Jake and Steve explain, it can be accomplished by setting up your company in such a way that you have a well-oiled machine that can run as effectively with you or without you. It takes time, energy, and a lot of initial work to get to that point, but if you go into developing your business with that in mind, you can make it happen.

“I’m trying to get to the point where it can run better without me than with me. I train everybody on exactly how I want it to go and then I find myself able to focus on building relationships and networking. Now I let my team do the operation, so I can go out there looking because I’m a distributor for my lumber, our epoxy, building relationships, and networking with different people to get on our team. I’m just thinking of the big picture.”
